Here we are. Two Thousand Twenty-Five! Unbelievable for those of us who grew up in the 1970s and '80s. Time is seemingly flying by. And with it, we hopefully grow stronger and wiser. There are times however, that it's difficult to feel that way, when so much is out of our control. Are we stronger and wiser parents? Wiser students, spouses or partners? Are we stronger as a community or country? Some soul-searching would be admirable at this point.
In 2025 are we kinder, more considerate, more tolerant or are we unkind, intolerant and ugly in our discourse? Are we more grateful, as wisdom would indicate we should be? Or do we complain even more than we used to-so accustomed to hearing ourselves gripe that we don't even notice how ungrateful we sound, or maybe are? Part of good Mental Health is being able to care for yourself and others, connecting with others in our community and contributing to the lives of others in a healthy way.
On this Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday weekend, this is just a little reminder of how we should be moving. Maybe we haven't arrived, where we're supposed to be in our citizenship with one another, but we should be moving in a good direction. Stronger, wiser, kinder and more tolerant of our differences.
This is just a very brief reminder because, we all apparently could use it.
What a year 2024 was! Let's try to contribute towards 2025 being much-improved.
